Faithful and true All that I want To be to you Lord knows I’m trying But it’s so hard to do Faithful and true Lonesome and sad All that I know All that I had Good love gone bad Lonesome and sad You know where I go You know the things that I do You see inside me Better than I’d like you to Mercy and grace I’m holding out hope You’ll find it someday I forgive you Is so hard to say Mercy and grace You know where I go You know the things that I do You see inside me Better than I’d like you to Faithful and true All that I want To be to you Lord knows I’m trying So that’s what I’ll do Faithful and true

Well, I’m headed back from Dallas Two days gone and gone to hell And I can’t keep my eyes open Far as I know just as well I can make it to the truck stop On the highway across the line If I can make it back to you, Back to you Then I’ll be fine All this sense that I’ve been making Makes no sense to me at all And the chances I keep taking Up the chances that I’ll fall Into the hole that I’ve been digging For myself into the dirt If I can make it back to you Maybe no one will get hurt But the headwinds on the highway 85 past one more town I ain’t seen your face since Friday Long to set my suitcase down We’ve been holding it together We’ve been waking up alone I can’t tell if all this leaving Is worth the being gone Is worth the being gone The sunlight in the window Through the blinds onto the floor Makes me realize I’ve been in those Shadow lines some time before One small step out of the dark into the light One more, babe, and I can make it back alright But the headwinds on the highway 85 past one more town I ain’t seen your face since Friday Long to set my suitcase down We’ve been holding it together We’ve been waking up alone I can’t tell if all this leaving Is worth the being gone Is worth the being gone

The night goes on forever When you try and make it last We were passing time together Just by laying in the grass We stared into the heavens And we saw the worlds collide We were lying still and watching They were flying through the skies The stars in Oklahoma Never seen a night so cool and clear Shooting stars in Oklahoma Burn so bright then disappear The moonlight has a way of Throwing shadows on the night It would be a shame to waste The only space we had to hide Then the morning glow grew brighter Shining light upon our faces We faded with the dawning And went our separate ways like the stars in Oklahoma Never seen a night so cool and clear Shooting stars in Oklahoma Burn so bright then disappear The stars in Oklahoma On the banks in late September They lead you through the darkness On a night you won’t remember Is everyone that easy Do they all just play the fool Are we all just out there looking for a way to break the rules It would take a fool to say it Like a photograph of grace But fools need supervision Or a gift for saving face We got it on a hand shake We bought it for a song Just to chase a simple feeling Of doing something wrong beneath the Stars in Oklahoma Never seen a night so cool and clear Shooting stars in Oklahoma Burn so bright then disappear We burned so bright Then disappeared

Eyes for You 04:29
Don’t look at me now I’ve seen this before Set your eyes on one Drop her dead on the floor You’re handsome and charming It’s almost alarming And surely a waste of time Hey look at me now Do you see what you did You went and you found all the Things that I hid And you brought them to light With a laugh and a fight Like a wild and mischievous kid I know your kind, it’s just like mine Look at the trees how they move in the breeze How they shine in the light like they do I’m not afraid of the things that you say And I’ll tell you what you want me to I guess I’ve got eyes for you The melody moves on the Words that you choose And you play them alone in the dark You find me and say “Hell, it’s been quite a day Would you mind if I sing the low part” You know I know the way that this goes Look at the trees How they move in the breeze How they dance like the old folks do I’m not afraid of you running away, darling I’m half expecting you to But still I’ve got eyes for you A lovable rake Knows just how he can make a fool Fall for his hook and a line And he surely can tell When he wears out his welcome And moves along making good time I know your kind and it seems you know mine Look at the leaves How they dance in the breeze How they fall and then come back new We ain’t hit the ground But we’re on our way down And there ain’t a damn thing we can do But still I’ve got eyes for you Still I’ve got eyes for you Still I’ve got eyes for you

Everybody’s moving slow Nobody’s thinking fast Nobody’s got to know Nothing’s ever gonna last We can sit and watch the time or we can let it roll on past You don’t really have to go Everybody’s moving slow Meddling moon up in the sky Friendly shadows on the ground It’s nice to feel like you can fly Even when you’re coming down We can feel it on the breeze But it’ll never make a sound We can keep it way down low we can keep it moving slow Everybody’s moving slow Nobody’s thinking fast We can act like we don’t know That this ain’t ever gonna last We can sit and watch the time Or we can let it roll on past If we can keep it way down low We can keep it moving slow You don’t really have to go ‘Cause everybody’s moving slow

He washed all the road dirt from his face and from his neck Sat down at her table She picked up his check And she took him home for reasons That she did not understand Him, he had the answers but He did not show his hand Because him, he knew the taste Of this wine very well It all goes down so easy But the next day is hell Morning “Man, was I drunk” She whispered in the shower While he laid there and smoked his way there Through the final hour She felt wholly empty Like she felt it every time And he was feeling just the same Except he was trying to make it rhyme Time was of the essence So they both did their best To meet up in the kitchen Feeling fully dressed She just had to go to work He just had to go He knew where and she knew how To blow it off and so They shot the breeze quite cavalier To the boiling of the pot And sang the instant coffee blues And never fired a shot Him, he hit the driveway with his feelings in a case Her, she hit the stoplight And touched up her face So you tell them the difference Between caring and not And that it’s all done with mirrors Lest they forgot Said it’s all done with mirrors Of which they have done To blend the instant coffee blues Into the morning sun

Death & Life 03:59
Got her legs crossed at her ankles And her purse down by her feet She takes a look around and wonders How this came to be The boy that’s there beside her Spitting image of the man Who carried all the weight And built this house with his two hands In 40 some odd years she never had to sleep alone Now it’s been 3 years in November and she still ain’t bought a stone Said “I used to be a lover, but I still feel like a wife” That’s the way that it goes in the game of death and life A father always tries to treat a boy just like a man And he saw his had a way To work through life With his two hands He knew that he was dying But before his days were done After he said all his goodbyes He asked one more thing of his son His old man died in April and he went to build a box Every nail in every board was a tear that never dropped Then he had a baby boy born on the same day as his dad So he took his name to give him it’s the best (only?) thing that he had Souls, they move in circles as the generations pass And the old ones hold the young as though the time will never last And the dusk leads to the dawning as the darkness brings us light That’s the way that it goes in the game of death and life All the children at the graveyard They’re just jumping over rocks And they’re reading all the names On all the cemetery plots They’re soaking up the sun and Wondering how it feels to die That’s the way that it goes In the game of death and life Souls, they move in circles as the generations pass And the young ones hold the old Like it’s the only thing they have And the dusk leads to the dawning as the darkness brings us light That’s the way that it goes in the game of death and life That’s the way that it goes in the game of death and life That’s the way that it goes

Run 03:51
How do you talk to a man Who don’t love you To a man who don’t listen to a word you have to say Do you wait do you worry do you wonder what he’s doing Do you wonder if he’ll leave or if he’ll stay How do you deal with the living and the dying With the honesty and the lying With the choices that he makes Do you love him through the losing Do you buy into the boozing Do you try and reconcile his mistakes Or do you run, run, run, run Oh do you run, run, run, run When it really hits the fan Do you still try to understand Or do you paint him in a corner Till he’s crawling up the wall Do you yell until your voice is gone Cry & try to carry on And blowing up all the pieces as they fall What do you think that he’s gonna do Treat you like you want him to Turn around and call it all a dream Well you ain’t dreaming and it ain’t no fun It’s fight or flight until you’re done And flying ain’t as scary as it seems Run, run, run, run Run, run, run, run How do you talk to a man Who don’t love you to a man who don’t listen To a man who don’t love you he don’t love you He don’t love you

In a Wink 04:42
Did you enjoy the clouds As much as Maggie did this morning I don’t know that anybody could Pointing and laughing at the faces they were forming Waiting on the rain and feeling good And did you feel the cool air As those clouds were passing over Coming down with autumn in the wind Showed up right on time here In the middle of October Feeling like your long lost closest friend chorus: If I’m dreaming let me sleep It all feels so real to me And I cry each time I think How there’s a lifetime in a wink Hands of time upon us As we watch the fire burning Flames turn into embers into ash And I know nothing I can do Can keep the clock from slowly turning But I wish that I could only ask Chorus Photographs and memories Are one inside the other Memorizing moments in your mind And I’ve got one of Maggie As those clouds were passing over Reaching out her arms up to the sky

If I told you how I really feel about you Would you care too much at all Would the tension that you’re feeling Send you reeling or just Drive you up a wall Would you say it’s not the time or place Maybe we could meet another day If I told you how I really feel about you i wonder what you’d say In the dark I feel a loneliness inside That comes creeping into view And I’d be lying if I didn’t say That oftentimes it makes me think of you And I feel like you’re awake somewhere Dealing with a sorry all your own If I told you how I really feel about you You’d never feel alone If I told you how I really feel about you Would you care too much at all would you say you have an idea it was coming And you felt it all along Would you tell me that you love me too And wish we’d met a lifetime ago If I told you how I really feeling about you Would you wish you didn’t know
